What do I do if my resin surface has imperfections after curing?

How long will my resin floor last?

Resin floors are incredibly durable and can last anywhere from 5-20 years, depending on usage and maintenance. Proper care and maintenance can significantly extend the lifespan of your floor.

What should I do if my resin floor becomes discolored?

Discoloration can happen due to exposure to sunlight, chemicals, or dirt build-up. Regular cleaning and, if necessary, a re-coat of resin can restore its original color and shine.

If your resin has not cured correctly, it could be due to improper mixing, incorrect environmental conditions, or inadequate surface preparation. In this case, you will have to remove the uncured resin by crapping and grinding, please contact us for guidance.

Can I walk on the resin floor immediately after application?

How long do I need to wait between coats of resin?

Can I apply resin products in cold or hot weather?

Resin products should be applied within a recommended temperature range, typically between 5°C and 25°C. Applying in cold temperatures can affect curing times and finish quality.

Do I need to mix the Resin Paint products before applying it?

How many coats of Resin Paint coating do I need to apply?

For most applications, two coats of resin are recommended for optimal coverage and durability. However, this can vary depending on the specific product and surface type.

How long does it take for Resin Paint products to dry?

This is temperature and humidity dependant please check the product data sheets for full cure schedules.

How do I apply resin paint or screed?

Resin paint can be applied with a roller or brush in even coats. For screed systems, use a trowel or specialized applicator to spread it evenly over the surface. Always follow the application guidelines.

How do I know if my surface is compatible with Resin Paint products?

Most concrete, wood, metal, and tiles are compatible, but each material requires specific preparation steps and in some cases a specific primer. Our surface preparation download provide detailed instructions for different surface types.

Do I need to clean the surface before applying resin even if it looks clean?

Yes, even surfaces that appear clean can have oils, dust, or moisture that interfere with adhesion. Always thoroughly clean and prepare the surface.

What should I do if the surface has cracks or holes?

If your surface has cracks or holes, they can be repaired before applying resin. We would recommend that any trip hazards are made good prior to application as for small imperfections it down to you as every repair will make the floor more aesthetically pleasing. Small repairs are easily carried out by using one of the Resin Paint repair products, or a thin set filler compound.

Should I remove old coatings before applying resin?

Any lose, flaking or failing systems should be removed back to a solid surface. The better job done with the preparation, the better the floor will perform and look upon finishing.

Can I apply Resin Paint systems over old tile or ceramic surfaces?

Yes, Resin Paint floor systems can be applied over tile. Ensure there are no lose but they need to be secure to the subfloor with no damage, clean and thoroughly prepared to remove the glaze. This will provided a porous surface for the primer to adhere too. Please note that you will likely get the tile grout lines mirroring through.

Can I apply Resin Paint floor systems on a damp surface?

Surfaces should be dry clean and free of failing surfaces and laitance. If concrete surfaces have residual moisture or damp issues this could be rectified with applying the required number of coats of Resin Paint Primer DPM.

What tools do I need to prepare the surface?

Tools may include a power sander, scrapers, brushes, and cleaning materials or specialist grinding equipment. If you are unsure please contact us so we can assist you.  If you need any specialist equipment we have this available for hire. Alternatively, if you would preferer an approved contractor to carry out this or the full process we can assist with this.

Do I need to apply a primer before using Resin Paint products?

A primer helps improve adhesion, especially on porous or smooth surfaces. Check the product specifications to determine if primer is necessary for your project.

How should I prepare the surface before applying resin?

Proper surface preparation is key. Clean the surface thoroughly, removing dirt, oil, grease, and loose particles. Then for the best adhesion mechanical preparation is recommended. Depending on the substrate, you may need to sand, grind or prime the surface before applying resin.

How do I know how much resin I need for my project?

The quantity required depends on the size of the area, surface porosity, texture and the product being used. We provide approximate coverage rates for each product to help you calculate the amount needed. It’s always a good idea to over order to allow for these variations.
